WATCH: Ex-Presidents congratulate Biden, swipe at “divisive” Trump

Pollemix News – January 21, 2020
Former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W Bush and Barack Obama joined one another to release a congratulatory video message to now President Joe Biden and his VP Kamala Harris from Arlington Cemetery. The former Commanders-in-Chief discussed the transfer of power between them, heaping praise upon each other with President Bush saying:

“The fact that the three of us are here talking about a peaceful transfer of power speaks to the institutional integrity of our country.”

His sentiments were echoed by his Democratic counterparts with President Obama reminiscing upon his inauguration to The White House, thanking his predecessor George W Bush for the manner of his handover:

“One of my fondest memories of the inauguration was the grace and generosity that President Bush showed me and Laura Bush showed Michelle, it was a reminder that we can have fierce disagreements and yet recognize each other’s common humanity, and that as Americans, we have more in common than what separates us,” Obama said.

Former President Clinton harkened for a return to civility saying:

“This is an unusual thing. We are trying to come back to normalcy, deal with totally abnormal challenges, and do what we do best, which is try to make a more perfect union.”

The trio refrained from mentioning Trump by name but their discussion was a barely veiled admonition of the outgoing President, peppered with calls for a return to civility and emphasizing the need for “a peaceful transfer of power.”

President Trump was the first outgoing President in 150 years to skip the inauguration of his successor, although he did honor another tradition by leaving a letter in the Resolute Desk which Biden described as “generous and gracious.”

The three men concluded by wishing success to the newest inductee into the exclusive club of US Presidents, with Obama closing out with a final message to his former VP:

“Joe I’m proud of you, and you and Kamala need to know that you’ve got all of us here rooting for your success, keeping you in our prayers and we will be available in any way that we can as citizens to help you guide our country forward. We wish you godspeed.”
