A recent Gallup poll showed that US race relations are at their lowest point in 20 years. Since the 1964 Civil Rights Act, relations between White and Black Americans have moved steadily towards racial harmony. In recent years, however, there has been increasing discord, polarization, and balkanization between racial groups. Democrats have blamed former President Trump for this breakdown, suggesting his 'racist rhetoric' has ginned up racist hatred for minorities. Conversely, Republicans accuse Democrats of pushing radical ideas such as Critical Race Theory that divide society along racial lines.
