Bob Woodward's new book Peril divulged that General Mark Milley was secretly communicating with Chinese officials behind Donald Trump's back in the last days of his Presidency. Milley contacted his Chinese counterpart on two separate occasions to assure them that he would personally warn them if Trump were to launch a nuclear strike against China. While General Milley claims that he was worried about Trump trying to retain power by starting a war, Republicans are claiming his activity was tantamount to treason.
