Dominion files $1.3 Billion lawsuit against Giuliani for election fraud claims

Former New York City Mayor and Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani was served with a lawsuit on Monday by Dominion Voting Systems seeking $1.3 Billion in damages for repeatedly alleging “disproven” claims that the company “rigged” the 2020 election in favor of Joe Biden.
The suit follows a similar filing leveled against fellow Trump representative Sidney Powell who, along with Giuliani, was the primary facilitator of Trump’s efforts to overturn Biden’s election victory. Although initially part of the former President’s legal team, Powell was soon discarded after a disastrous and much maligned press conference alongside Giuliani and Jenna Ellis. Regardless, Powell continued to mount election challenges in several battleground states without success and repeatedly pushed theories that the Dominion voting machines were “rigged” in favor of Joe Biden.
The 107 page suit filed on Monday accused Giuliani of pushing a “a viral disinformation campaign about Dominion”, based on “false” allegations of voter fraud and election manipulation which damaged their business and reputation. The suit also noted that despite launching numerous slanders against Dominion in media appearances these allegations were never brought forward in court, with Dominion’s lawyers theorizing that Giuliani was concerned about facing sanctions for knowingly making false statements.
It is the latest blow for the former New York Mayor who failed miserably in his attempt to overturn the election for Trump and has seen his reputation tarnished by a series of comically inept media appearances with the coup de grâce being his infamously absurd November 19 press conference:
In addition, Giuliani has also seen moves by the State of New York to strip him of his law license following his participation at the January 06 Rally that preceded the Capitol Hill Riot, where he made a fiery speech that has been criticized for helping to “incite” the violence and mayhem that ensued.
The lawsuit also rebuked Giuliani for his claim that Dominion was founded in Venezuela to rig elections for Hugo Chavez responding:
“Dominion was not founded in Venezuela to fix elections for Hugo Chávez. It was founded in 2002 in John Poulos’s basement in Toronto to help blind people vote on paper ballots.”
Dominion voting systems were used in 24 states this election cycle and their suit asserts that the repeated “false accusations” made against the company have done irreparable damage to the business:
“For Dominion — whose business is producing and providing voting systems for elections — there are no accusations that could do more to damage Dominion’s business or to impugn Dominion’s integrity, ethics, honesty, and financial integrity.”
Although Giuliani and Powell were the most high profile purveyors of the conspiracy theory surrounding Dominion, the company’s legal counsel has not ruled out further lawsuits with Mike Lindell of MyPillow fame, Lou Dobbs, Fox News, Fox Business, Newsmax and OAN all in their sights.
